Demarest Kill County Park:
New City, NY

Tucked behind the parking lot on New Hempstead Road, adjacent to the court house, is the wooded Demarest Kill Park. The hiking path leading from the parking lot circles the pond. The pond is stocked with fish and has benches and picnic tables for visitors to enjoy.

When we visited, we came across a huge turtle on the path. It was fascinating. The lake looked beautiful framed by the autumn colored trees. It took us about 15 minutes to walk around the lake. The streams from Demerast Kill connect to the stream by Dutch Garden. Future plans are for Demerast Kill to be actually accessible from Dutch Gardens.
