Emerald Lake State Park:
East Dorset, VT

We stopped at Emerald Lake State Park for a barbecue supper on the way back from Bromley Mountain (Peru, VT) to where we were based in Killington. The park was exactly what we were looking for: a place to grill, with picturesque scenery, just a short walk from the parking lot. The highlight for us was the magnificent lake which offers a swimming beach and boat rentals. Since we visited during late afternoon hours the park was deserted except for a family fishing from their canoe. The 20 acre lake is a popular destination for fishing, swimming and boating (without motors only). There are picnic tables on the grass near the lake as well as on a field closer to the parking lot. There are also tables in a shady area near the paved path leading to the lake. The picnic pavilion is available for group rental.

Emerald Lake Park is a popular hiking destination and there are camping and RV sites at the park.
