We visited a few caves during our trip before visiting Ruby Falls. We wondered what we would see that wouldn’t be repetitious. There was nothing repetitious about Ruby Falls. Unique and breathtaking are apt descriptions of Ruby Falls.
After descending 260 feet under Lookout Mountain into the cavern our knowledgeable guide shared with us the history of Ruby Falls-how it was discovered by Leo Lambert and how he named it for his wife Ruby. We continued along the path with our guide who told us all about the rock formations. The crowning glory of the tour is seeing the magnificent Ruby Falls. The huge thundering waterfall that roars in the cave is a sight to behold. The colored lights projected onto the falls give it a mystical feel. It is hard to pull yourself away from the majestic waterfall and head back to the elevators at the end of the hour plus tour.
Ruby Falls High Point ZIP Adventure on Lookout Mountain takes visitors across the treetops at Lookout Mountain on an amazing zip line ride. We couldn’t wait for this exciting activity but to our disappointment the zipline had to shut down before we got to ride it due to extreme winds. We hope to try the zipline that everyone raves about next time we are in the area.
