We spent an enjoyable Friday afternoon at Hurd’s Farm last week. Set on beautiful grounds with unobstructed views of the surrounding mountains, the 125-acre farm offers apple picking from a larger variety of types of apples than I knew existed. Special Hurds Farm bags must be purchased ahead of entering the orchard and visitors get to fill the bag with whichever apples they prefer. We picked lots of Gold, McIntosh and Red Delicious Apples. The apples we brought home were really tasty. There still is time to enjoy apple picking this year-the apple picking season usually lasts from late August to late October.
The apple trees are spread throughout the farm we were able to enjoy some of the activities between choosing which apples to pick. There are many family friendly activities to enjoy such as the bounce pillow, the obstacle course, The Giant Slide, Farm Animals and the Kids Corral to play in. There are many picnic tables near the Kids Corral and some under a roof in case it rains.
There is a hay ride and a themed corn maze to try and find your way out of. We started the maze but only got to do a small part because we were pressed for time.
On the weekends the Mini Zipline near the corn maze is open. The Cow Train and Bin Train both run on weekends only.
Hurds Family Farm is fun for all ages. From young children to adults, we all had a great time!
