In order to begin the hike to the Brochaux Waterfall we needed to get to the Les Lidarets (Goat Village). Driving there from where we were staying in Chatel would take over an hour but via chairlifts it took so much quicker. We started out in Pre la Joux. We took three chairlifts one following the next until we got to Les Lindarets.
We followed the path to Cascade des Brochaux through the woods, alongside the flowing river for 30-40 minutes. The hike was not difficult and we enjoyed the nature we passed. Right before the waterfall we came to a large clearing. There was a building with a café at the bottom of a chairlift line that crosses over to Switzerland.
At the clearing we passed some grazing cows which were walking down the dirt road between the people.
The waterfall was tall and majestic. There is access right to the bottom of the waterfall. Many people used the bottom pool to cool off. There are many picnic tables on the grassy area by the waterfall. We enjoyed a picnic lunch before heading back to the chairlift through the gravel road which is a lot shorter.
