Family friendly is what makes the experience at Great Escape Lodge so enjoyable and unique. Not only are children allowed, they are actually welcome and catered to. With that in mind, the rooms are all suites. We stayed in a Traditional Suite which was comfortable in its own right. There are also larger suites and 2 bedroom suites, as well as themed suites. Although the suites are large and have amenities for families, there is no cooking allowed on site.
As soon as we stepped into the lobby we were taken in by the Rustic Décor and feel (even with the Halloween decorations still up.) The rustic feel continues all throughout the hotel even in the rooms. Although it is rustic, the hotel is clean, not old and musty.
There are lots of activities on site to keep the family entertained most notably the indoor water park. There are so many fun water activities such as a lazy river, water slides for all ages and levels, family rafting down a slide with a 41 foot drop, even body boarding and surfing. There is a kid’s splash area and a treehouse area with slides, tunnels and sprinklers. The waterpark is consistently 82 degrees Fahrenheit, the perfect temperature all year round. You’d never believe that the waterpark is located within the hotel (with just some slides poking out:) The best part is that tickets to the waterpark are included with the hotel stays.
In addition to the water park, there is a kids club with some free activities and some activities for purchase such as sand art or ceramic painting. There is a full arcade area with 45 arcades to choose from. The Cupcakes Kids Spa is adjacent to the adult’s tranquility spa. Both children and adults can enjoy an amazing spa experience. There are many dining options available at the hotel as well.
We visited the Great Escape Lodge during the Sukkot Event. There was a Sukkah, Prayer Room and separate hours at the waterpark. There was nothing like enjoying the warm weather in the waterpark while the rain was pelting the windows. The Great Escape Lodge is always well priced for what you get but during the Sukkot Event there were special prices offered for those joining.
A stay at Great Escape Lodge can be enjoyed on its own or in conjunction with a trip to Lake George or Great Escape Amusement Park. Great Escape Lodge is also a popular hotel to stop at on the way up the Thruway. It is on the way to so many places including Lake Placid, Vermont and Montreal.
