We couldn’t help but notice the signs for the Wright Brothers National Memorial as we drove down the main highway in the area. We decided to pull in and see the place where Wilbur and Orville Wright flew the first airplane.
The park houses The Visitor Center, park store, and hands-on exhibits that bring to life the Wright brothers’ journey to flight. We did not have time to visit the museum but we were able to visit the 60-foot-tall granite Wright Brothers Monument on Big Kill Devil Hill-the primary location of the brothers’ glider experiments.
When we visited, we walked up the hill to the large Monument. We enjoyed the beautiful unobstructed views of the area.
