Outer Banks:
North Carolina

We took a trip to the Northern Outer Banks, North Carolina, in April for a few days. We stayed in Corolla and enjoyed the beach town that was quiet and not yet overloaded with people. The Outer Banks is a magnificent area which some call a long sandy peninsula and others refer to it as a series of barrier Islands attached to land. But all agree that it is a beautiful area which has the North Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Pamlico Sound on the other side.  Driving from the beginning from the Northern Outer Banks down to Hatters Island on the Southern Outer Bank would take approximately 2.5 hours.

The weather in April was generally not swimming weather. We loved taking walks at the water (most of the time we needed a sweater but not more than that) and visiting some of the attractions in the area. Some attractions were specific to the area and other general attractions that can be found in many vacation spots.

The town was so nice and quiet it was a great experience to visit before the very busy summer season.
