We had so much fun sandboarding at Jockey’s Ridge State Park. We rented sandboards from Kitty Hawk Kites located just across the street from Jockey’s Ridge State Park. We crossed over the street and walked into the park. Jockey’s Ridge State Park has the tallest living sand dune system on the Atlantic coast. We enjoyed using the sandboards as sleds to zoom down the sand dunes. The more sporty ones in our group stood on the sandboards on their way down. We also brought with kites which we really enjoyed flying. The area of the sand dunes is open to the wind. There are so many people that come to enjoy flying their kites. Kitty Hawk Kites where we rented the sand boards also sells kites and offers Hang Gliding lessons at the park.
There is a second area in the park with wetlands. People can swim, boat and windsurf on the Roanoke Sound.
We really enjoyed the wholesome fun we had sandboarding and flying kited at Jockey’s Ridge State Park.
