Ramapo Lake Trailhead:
Oakland, NJ

We wanted to hike locally without spending a whole day on it. The temperature was descent, if a bit overcast.

We decided to take Ramapo Lake Trailhead up to the lake and walk around the 120-acre Ramapo Lakepicturesque lake.

The climb up was pleasant with a brook running alongside us part of the time. Once we reached the lake the terrain leveled out and we were basically on flat land. We started our way around the lake and enjoyed the beautiful views. We saw some people catch a fish as we passed them (swimming is prohibited in the lake). We didn’t get too far around the lake when it started drizzling. We didn’t want to get stuck in a downpour so we turned around and headed back to the trail which took us down to the parking lot.

Although we didn’t get to walk around the entire lake (probably not even half) we enjoyed the hike and the views.
