American Girl Place:
Rockefeller Plaza, New York

There are few little girls’ dreams that are as universal as an American Girl Doll. When I was a kid we all dreamed of the Molly and Samantha dolls (out of production nowadays, making room for the new girls on the block). They were beautiful and realistic at the same time. My girls adore the American Girl Dolls just as much and love reading about their “lives”.  No wonder the American Girl Place was unanimous choice on a recent day off from school. The experience of visiting the store is not just of a store that sells dolls and accessories, it is that of a partial museum.

The store is beautifully designed and feels festive with stations hosting different dolls and their accessories. Some of the areas have photo ops, videos and activities in connection to that doll.

There is also the Truly You section where you can choose and make a doll that looks like you with the same hair color and eye color.

The Doll Hospital and Salon are adorable. You can bring your doll in for an examination or hairdo in the salon. There is both a doll salon and human salon, you can both get the same hairdo.

The Café is a hit with many doll “moms”. They get to seat their dolls with them in a special high chair at the table and join in the meal.
