Since its beginning in 1972, the Aviation Hall of Fame & Museum of New Jersey is dedicated to educate visitors about New Jersey’s rich aviation history and achievements.
The museum walls display many interesting photos and artifacts. Even before I stepped into the building, I was surrounded by pictures, models and facts about aviation. There are many interesting exhibits within the museum starting with a movie about the history of New Jersey’s accomplishments. In the Great Room of exhibits there are historic aircrafts, space aircrafts, the rocket engine that propelled the incredible X-15, models of aircrafts. The custom-built “Fundamentals of Flight” interactive aerodynamics exhibit which allows visitors to feel as if they are making a model plane in a showcase fly.
The museum also houses a Research Library which has more than 3500 aviation related volumes. Every year, the Aviation Hall of Fame recognizes 3 individuals from New Jersey who made a major contribution to NJ’s aerospace industry. The Hall of Fame Room displays medals of those honorable individuals.
The Museum is located adjacent to the Teterboro Airport. Watching the planes take off and land from up close is fascinating.
