Bailiwick Animal Park and Riding Stables:
Catskill, NY

Bailiwick Animal Park is a unique place for fun and interactive animal experiences. Family owned and operated, the zoo is set in the Catskills in a homey farm-like setting.  Most of the animals have either been rescued or donated to the zoo. In addition to the horses and riding stables, Bailiwick houses some unusually large animals such as Bengal Tigers, North American Black Bears, Bison, camels, kangaroos, alligators and many many more exotic and domestic  animals.

The setup and decor of the zoo is inviting with a fun playground near the entrance and picnic tables as well. There isn’t much walking required. The animals are near each other and unless they are dangerous, the animals only have low gates and visitors can interact with many of them.

When we visited, we watched some children frolicking about between the different animals while the parents were able to sit and relax while still able to keep an eye on the children. This was only possible due to the close proximity of the animals to each other and the layout of this farm-like zoo.

e visited one very sunny day this summer. We enjoyed strolling around the grounds and visiting the many animals including goats, chickens, pigs, turkeys and ducks. The horses and donkeys were staying in the huts to avoid the hot sun. We were able to spot the cattle from afar.

There are historic farm buildings to explore milk house, the ice house, the brooder house, and the carriage house as well as the museum house.

There are many picnic tables scattered throughout the grounds and many outside the concession stand under the shade. The beautiful butterfly garden at the side of the concession stand has pretty flowers to walk through.
