More than 600 species of animals from around the world can be found in the 265 acres of Bronx Zoo. The wide range of animals seen in the zoo is fascinating. The zoo is divided into different sections such as the ​African Plains, World of Reptiles, Mouse House, Himalaya​n Highlands. The zoo is beautifully designed in ways that replicate the animal’s natural habitats. The zoo is so expansive that it is difficult to see the entire zoo in one day. It is a good idea to either select ​the more popular and major exhibits such as Tiger Mountain, Himalayan Highlands, Congo Gorilla Forest, and World of Reptiles or split the zoo into two day trips.​

There are some exhibits that are specifically geared to warmer weather,​while other exhibits are specifically for the winter months. Bronx Zoo offers many activities in addition to the viewing the animals in the park. Attractions such as​ The Wild Asia Monorail, The Zoo Shuttle, a Treetop Adventure Course, The Bug Carousel, The Camel Ride and the 4D Theater, ​are not included in General Admission but some are included in the Total Experience Tickets.

​Bronx Zoo is famous for free entrance on Wednesdays. The parking fee of $16 is charged every day, including Wednesdays.
