Buttermilk Falls Park is mostly steep woodland. There is a trail to follow from the parking lot that passes the Falls, continuing uphill and passing scenic overlooks.

The Falls are located not far from the parking lot. I found they were the most enjoyable part of the hike. I did not find the views outstanding ​although there was a special beauty since we took the hike in the fall when the trees were beautiful colors.
