During our first trip to the White Mountains in New Hampshire we purchased one-way tickets to go up the ariel tramway at Cannon Mountain and we hiked down through an easy marked path in the woods. This summer (I believe due to Covid) one-way tickets were not an option. I any case, we decided to hike up the nearby Bald Mountain for a different view of the area.

Cannon Mountain offers visitors a scenic ride in the large Ariel Tramway up to the summit of Cannon Mountain, the only one in New Hampshire. The Ariel Tramway departs every 15 minutes. One goes up while the other goes down at the same time. The Tram ride lasts under ten minutes. The summit offers 360-degree views of the mountains and surrounding area. There is an observation deck and café at the summit.
