I really enjoy kayaking. It has that feeling of sitting on the water without actually being in the water.

As a teen we used to rent kayaks quite locally at Longpond Ironworks State Park. That location closed quite a few years ago.

I recently came across Flatwater Paddle Co. in another area of Longpond Ironworks State Park. Located on the shore of the beautiful scenic Monksville Reservoir in the New Jersey Highlands, Flatwater Paddle has paddleboards as well as single and double kayaks for rent.

The lake is peaceful and serene and is large enough to enjoy boating on with views of the surrounding mountains. We rented kayaks one Sunday and loved gliding on the water surrounded by nature and tranquility.
