Ihr David is a combination of history and fun. The first part of the tour focuses on the history with the highlights including Dr. Mazar’s Palace Excavation- an impressive structure from the period of the Judean kings , The Royal Acropolis (Area G) and remnants of remarkable homes from the Biblical Period. There is also 3D movie included in the tour and beautiful views of the surrounding areas can be seen from Ihr David.

My favorite part of the tour was the dark underground water tunnel called Hezekiah’s Tunnel. Water has flowed there consistently since the time of the prophets. Flashlights and secure water shoes are required for this part of the tour, also available for purchase at our Gift Shop. Entrance recommended for those 5 years and older. The water may reach up to 70cm (28 inches). The water temperature is 18 degrees Celsius. Walking through the dark water filled tunnel is a real adventure.

The tour includes walking up and down stairs. Babies and toddlers may join the tour in a front baby carrier only. No strollers are allowed.
