The Children’s Garden in Ithaca is a haven of nature and environmental education for children.
Within the garden there are a variety of areas. The Bulb Labyrinth Memorial Garden created in partnership with the Ithaca Childbearing Loss Network features bulbs and perennial flowers with sculptures and pathways and stone benches. In addition to all the colorful flowers a peace pole inscribed with Hope, Peace, Love, and Remembrance in 15 languages is featured there. This part of the garden is dedicated as a remembrance of babies in the community who didn’t make it.
The most unique part of the garden is Gaia the Turtle added in 2005. This is a land sculpture of a humongous turtle located at the south entrance of the Garden and can be seen by passersby. The turtle is a fun place for children to play on and around.
The garden also has hens and bees for children to learn about and interact with. The Birds Nest House is a great place for children to play in and learn about birds.
The ICG runs educational programs after school and in the summer. Visitors can come and explore the garden anytime as well.
