Seven Lakes Drive is a beautiful scenic area within Harriman State Park with serene lakes sprinkled throughout. The streets often go right alongside or even through some of the lakes. Several of the lakes offer swimming, boating and camping on site. We’ve visited a few in the past. This time we were looking for a nice out of the way spot for a picnic supper, but a place which doesn’t have a playground or the like, since we are practicing social distancing due to the corona virus. Kanawauke Picnic Area was the perfect place.
Driving to Kanawauke Picnic Area led us through the magnificent Seven Lakes Drive. When we entered the parking lot we saw that there is lots of parking and lots of picnic tables overlooking the tranquil lake. There were some others there but there was more than enough space for everyone to spread out and keep a distance. We made sure not to come in direct contact with anything there and enjoyed the calm scenic surroundings. While we were there we saw some people on the grass farther down fishing and still others were off to another side of the picnic area grilling on one of the many bbq stations. It was nice just to sit on a bench and enjoy the beautiful nature all around us.
