Coming in close contact with, feeding, and petting kangaroos is an unbelievable experience. Even more unbelievably, you needn’t travel to Australia for this experience. Kentucky Down Under in Horse Cave, Kentucky offers this unusual experience as well as so many more.
I would describe Kentucky Down Under as unique combination of zoo, farm, and safari. It is a really interactive experience. Visitors get to enter gated areas with roaming kangaroos, and other animals that live alongside them.
The Land of Loris was so much fun. We purchased a cup of syrup and the colorful Loris came flying right up onto us to enjoy it. The petting zoo has farm animals to touch. There are shows throughout the day where they show the visitors exotic animals and tell all about them.
On the schedule of daily events are the times that visitors can watch how the herding dogs gather together the grazing animals. It is fascinating!
The Mammoth Onyx Cave is an active limestone cave filled with dripstone formations that is situated on the property. We didn’t have time to visit it but it seems to be popular and an easy cave to visit.
The exhibits and animals are spread over a tremendous piece of land. The good thing is visitors can rent golf carts large enough either for 4 or 6 people. Riding the golf carts added to the fun adventure!
