Lake Geneva:
Geneva, Switzerland

We flew into Geneva as it was the closest airport to our destination in the French Alps. We wanted to see a bit of Geneva before heading into France. We chose to visit Lake Geneva, a beautiful picturesque lake, an icon of Geneva.

The Lake is very large and stretches between Switzerland and France. The Lake is a happening place with lots of tourists and people coming to enjoy the beautiful area.

We pulled up to the lake and parked in an underground parking garage. Our first stop was the floral clock. We admired the artistic clock made of flowers. We snapped some photos and continued on to the Geneva Wheel nearby. On the wheel we got to see unobstructed views of the lake and the city.

Once we exited the Wheel we headed to the walkway along the scenic lake. We stopped at some souvenir stands and admired the many boats and ferries we saw. We would have loved to ride one of the ferries but we were pressed for time. Instead we continued alongside the lake until we got to the Jet d’Eau de Genève, the huge fountain located on a pier which extends into the lake. The fountain pumps half a cubic meter of water per second 140m into the air. When we walked near the fountain the wind blew the water straight at us providing a much-needed cooling off on the hot summer day we visited. After the fountain is a swimming area where people cool off in the very blue water.

After we went to see the Jet d’Eau Genève we turned around to head back to our car to make our way to the French Alps, our destination.

There are many places in Geneva we would have liked to visit, however that will need to wait for another trip when we have more time to spend in the area.
