Monmouth Battlefield State Park is the site of one of the largest battles of the American Revolution. The park, set on acres of hilly farmland includes a Visitor’s Center, a restored Revolutionary War farmhouse, a picnic area with a small playground, hiking and biking paths and horseback riding trails.
The Visitor Center offers exhibits and information about the Revolutionary War and the battle fought at the site. The helpful guides are available to answer questions. A realistic film helps visitors feel what it was like during the Revolutionary War and the battle that took place there. At the end of the film the screen rolled up and we saw the site of the battle through the large windows in the theater. No Photography is allowed in the museum.
After enjoying our self-guided tour of the museum, we headed over to the picnic area near the small playground. There are many tables and grilling stations there. There is also a small lake nearby and we enjoyed our picnic lunch before heading home.
