The Haverstraw/Ossining Ferry and Engel Park is a great afternoon or early evening trip. The ferry is really a commuter ferry and therefore there are only ferries in the early morning. The last one to leave Haverstraw in the morning is at 8:45 and the first afternoon one is at 4:57 p.m. There is a Metro station right by the ferry terminal that goes to Manhattan.

The first feasible return trip is to leave Haverstraw at 4:57. The ferry ride takes 20 minutes across the scenic Hudson River. The first return ferry leaves at 4:42 p.m. and continues to run continuously until 9:32 p.m.

Once you arrive you can follow the path on the right to Engel Park. Engel Park has a sprinkler area where kids can enjoy the water activities. It is advisable to bring a change of clothing and water shoes. The sprinkler section of the park closes at 6 p.m. It is advisable to go there first upon arrival.

The park has many more enjoyable activities; swings, monkey bars, slides and more.  You can enjoy supper on the picnic tables in the park. There is a walkway with benches along the water. It is nice to go back early to the ferry terminal to play in the sand and water at the mini beach.
