Old Town was created in 1769 as California’s first settlement. It is currently the heart of the historic district of San Diego. Old Town still gives off that authentic market feel with old time Californian Ambiance.
Old Town is just across the street from the San Diego Trolley Old Town Transit Center. There are many specialty shops, restaurants and a band of street performers can often be found there too. It is interesting to stroll through the shops and check out the interesting merchandise on display. Lots of stuff are handmade.
In the center if Old Town is the Old Town San Diego Historic Park where there are living history programs with blacksmith and woodworker shops, created to help visitors experience Mexican-American period of 1821-1872.
Old Town definitely has an old historic feel to it.
