Parksville Rail Trail:
Parksville, NY

The 1.3 mile Parksville Rail Trail was the perfect place for us to stop and enjoy a short hike to enjoy nature while in the area one afternoon. We parked in the Trailhead B Lot, across from the Citco Gas Station and followed the unpaved trail into the wooded area alongside the stream below. Just above the steep incline Route 17 runs parallel with the trail.  The trail leads past a waterfall with a picnic table and benches nearby. The stream above the waterfall is rocky and shallow and beckons for visitors to cool off there.

We were pressed for time and didn’t complete the entire 1.3mile trail. We turned back a bit after the waterfall and headed back to the parking lot.

Parksville Rail Trail is part of a network of trails spanning 50 miles through many scenic towns in Sullivan County. The trail follows the main path of the main line of the former New York, Ontario & Western Railway (NYO&W). The new scenic paths transformed these rail towns to trail towns. The paths can be used by foot, bike and horseback(in some areas.)
