Locals often know of great places to visit; ones that tourists would not necessarily find during a search of the area. That is very much the case with Runway Visitors Park, a unique aircraft-themed park right by the runway of the Manchester Airport. There is just a gate separating the park from the runway, with clear unobstructed close up views of the planes taking off. That in and of itself keeps visitors of all ages entertained.
The park has many many picnic tables scattered around. There is a fun aviation themed playground which also has views of the airplanes taking off. I watched some children play, pause to watch an aircraft take off, and then go right back to their activities.
There are four aircrafts stationed at the park. We only entered the one near the playground. It is a genuine airplane which was set up as a museum with displays and information plaques. The other aircrafts we did not have enough time to visit.
There is a Café and indoor event space that is available for rent. Located within the event space, which looks something like a hangar, is a genuine Concorde on display for event guests.
