Shepherd Park, located on the main street just by Lake George, beckons the passersby to stop and admire the fountain and flowers. The entrance to the park on Canada Street is on a hill above the water. The view of the lake is beautiful and it is a great spot to watch the firework display over the lake on Thursday nights in the summer. There are picnic tables atop the hill and many wooden beach chairs scattered about. There is also an amphitheater for outdoor concerts. There is a paved path that leads down to the lake. At the bottom of the hill (I didn’t go there when I visited-I just stayed on the top) is said to have a playground and beach area.
