There aren’t many parks with playgrounds in the White Mountains area. You will find playgrounds at attractions but not at many regular parks. We were excited to chance upon the Town of Carroll Recreation area on our way from Lincoln, New Hampshire to the Mount Washington Auto Road.

When we visited, we turned into the park area and noticed the swimming lake devoid of swimmers. We were disappointed that we didn’t have our swimming gear with us. It looked like it would’ve been fun with a yellow raft to jump off of and play in the lake.  We continued up the pebbly driveway to the playground and the children enjoyed themselves with the nice variety of playground equipment. There were many picnic tables scattered about on the grass near the playground. Adjacent to the playground was a basketball court and soccer field. On the left of the long driveway used to enter the Recreation area was a beautiful babbling brook running alongside it.
