Vail:
Vail, CO

Vail is every bit a high-end Ski Resort Town. It is a beautifully built and well kept village; very much enjoyable in the summer as well. There are plenty of hotels, condos, shops and restaurants throughout the Village. The fountains and streams flowing in and near the Village add so much to its beauty.

We rented an Airbnb Condo on Frontage Road right across Vail Mountain; not in the Village itself. We had beautiful views of the Mountains, we were in walking distance of the Village and at the same time, as we weren’t in the thick of things, we were able to enjoy some peace and quiet.

When we planned our Colorado trip we planned for a week in Vail. We planned to use Vail as our home base as there is a Chabad Center with minyan there and it is a relaxing mountainous area, but we planned to spend a good part of the week in neighboring areas. We planned on continuing to Aspen for a day trip to hike the magnificent Maroon Bells. We also made reservations for the Hanging Lake Hike in Glenwood. We planned to visit Glenwood Adventure Park, all not very far from Vail. But alas, it was not meant to be. Forest fires broke out near Hanging Lake and Glenwood and the roads to Aspen were closed with major detours (It would take 5 hours with the detours to get to Maroon Bells). We did not get to visit some of the beautiful and famous nature places we planned to visit. We ended up spending more time in the Vail, Frisco, and Breckenridge area and enjoyed ourselves there as well.

Many families come to Vail on vacation because it is so famous but they do not realize that attractions in the area are mainly mountain based such as biking, mountain adventure activities, boating and are quite pricey in this area. In addition and most of the activities are not appropriate for little ones. In the summer it is a great place to get lots of rest and relaxation but if you want to do stuff it is worthwhile to do research first to see if this is the place to spend your time at in Colorado.
