Via Aquarium:
Schenectady, NY

We were on the way up to Lake George when our plan for a hiking stop was aborted by the overcast weather and rain. We were contemplating bowling again but I really wanted to do more than that. When I came across the Via Aquarium in the Via Mall I was excited. The Via Aquarium is the only aquarium currently in the Capitol Region.

The Aquarium is not very large but has some exciting exhibits. In addition to the fish tanks with each one displaying fish found in a particular place with a sign on top pointing out each place, there is also a tunnel leading to closed a hole in the center of a tank which makes you look like you are in a tank.

The stingray feeding is a big hit and petting the fish in a big open tank is a real experience.

There is also a short movie set up in a way that makes you feel like you are actually underwater. The most exciting part by far is the glass shark tunnel with small sharks and fish swimming around on top.

The aquarium also has an option of hosting birthday parties and they offer behind the scene tours as well.
