The Bird Kingdom is a fun and fascinating place. It is the World’s Largest Free-Flying Aviary. The birds and displays get more and more exciting as you go along. The Small Bird Aviary has over 40 species of birds flying around the indoor tropical area set up for them. The Main Aviary has about 80 species and approximately 400 birds living there. I’ve never before seen some of the magnificent birds I saw during our visit. The Aviaries at the Bird Kingdom consist of 50,000 square foot of indoor rainforest.

The Lorikeet Landing was my personal favorite. We got to feed and interact with the adorable colorful Australasian parrot. The birds landed on our hands, shoulders, heads and anywhere else they managed to reach while we fed them. There are a few feeding times throughout the day and there is no extra charge for feeding the Lorikeets.

Just outside the Lorikeet Landing in the jungle is a Javanese House from the 1800’s. It is the only one of its kind in North America.

In addition to the many exotic birds, there are also some other animals and reptiles typically found in rainforests. There are multiple opportunities to interact with the animals.
