Boynton Pass Vortex Hike:
 Sedona, AZ

We drove from Scottsdale to Sedona for the day. We booked the Pink Jeep Tour (which really was amazing). I wanted to squeeze in a hike before our jeep tour. The Boynton Pass Vortex Hike was perfect: short, sweet, and with beautiful views.

When I pulled up to the parking area it was full. We had to wait a little while for someone to pull out before we were able to park. There are restrooms at the parking lot.

Boynton is popular for its magnificent scenery. Many hiking trails start from that lot including the trail to Birthing Cave. We met hikers there that were doing hikes that take many hours to complete.

The path we took started out as a wide path, muddy from recently melted snow. The mud, however, was red. Our sneakers had a distinct red film on them when we were done.

The path started narrowing with step like rocks once we began the ascent toward the Vortex. The higher we climbed, the more we were able to see of the surrounding areas and red rock formations.

The Vortex is a large red rock formation which some believe has spiritual energy. The views all around when reaching the Vortex is breathtaking. Once we snapped photos and admired the views we turned around and headed back to our car in order to make it to the jeep tour in time.
