Currituck Beach Lighthouse:
Corolla, NC

by | Jun 26, 2026 | 0 comments

Currituck Beach Lighthouse is located right near the Historic Corolla Park in the Historic Village. The unpainted red brick Currituck Beach Lighthouse was the last brick lighthouse built in North Carolina.

There are 220 steps leading to the top of the lighthouse. There are nine landings between the flights of steps. There are exhibits with information on each landing. Viewing the displays on the landings help climbers catch their breath. The climb to the top takes and average of 10 minutes depending on weather or not you stop and rest (or read the exhibits on the landings).

In order to climb up, visitors must be 4 years old.  Children ages 0-3 may go to the top in a carrier/backpack only (free).

The view at the top is beautiful with unobstructed views of the Currituck Sound, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Northern Outer Banks.
