Heaton Park:
Manchester, England

We were in Manchester with our children for a few days in the summer to attend a wedding. We wanted to do something local, outdoor and enjoyable. Heaton Park seemed to be everyone’s recommendation.

The park was large with many entrances and an abundance of walking paths.

In addition to the playground and green fields, Heaton Park had some other inexpensive enjoyable activities.

The lake was a prominent part of the park. The rowboats available for rent were a fun activity.

We also saw the The Animal Centre, a free petting zoo where children can meet common farmyard animals up close. The land train which drives around the large park was an inexpensive way to get around and to see different areas of the park. Both the adults and the children really enjoyed the visit to Heaton Park.

Update:

We recently visited Manchester again and returned to Heaton Park. The park still is a wonderful place to visit. During this visit to the park we spent most of our time on the Treetop Nets. We did not  get to enjoy the same activities as last time but we did notice that the playgrounds seemed to have been updated since the last time we were there.
