Lake Placid is a magnificent tranquil bastion of nature. The area is blessed with beautiful lakes, bubbling streams and majestic mountains. We visited for just two days. We definitely saw the highlights but I would have loved to just be able to enjoy the scenery, hike some of the paths and dip my feet into the streams. We stayed right near the picturesque Mirror Lake and loved every minute.
In addition to the lakes, swimming and boating, the Olympics Jumping Complex and the Olympics related activities, as well as Whiteface Mountain are famous attractions in the area. There are additional fun activities in the area to enjoy.
Although we only visited in the summer, I would imagine that the Lake Placid area is a great place to visit during all four seasons. The summer offers lush mountains, fall boasts colorful trees, the winter has skiing and spring brings blooming trees.
The challenge we had was that there is no minyan in Lake Placid (no kosher food either). In the summer there is sometimes an opportunity of pulling together an impromptu minyan if you meet others.
