The Skyline Luge ride is definitely on the “Must Do” list when visiting Mont Tremblant.
This unique Luge Cart which was invented in New Zealand is found in only 7 locations worldwide (2 New Zealand Locations, 2 South Korea locations, 1 Singapore location and 2 locations in Canada.) In 2003 Mont Tremblant was the first to have the Luge on North America.
The Luge is located right in the Pedestrian Village adjacent to the beginning of the hiking paths. It is open in the spring, summer and fall seasons and is closed in the winter.
The first stop after the ticket booth is to be fitted with a helmet. The riders proceed to the chairlift which take riders (and the Luge Karts hooked onto the back of the seat) up the mountain to the Luge Track starting point. While heading up to the top of the track on the chairlift there is time to look around and enjoy the magnificent views all around.
It’s hard to describe what the Luge is. It is part go-cart and part toboggan with 3 wheels. It propels riders down the mountain on a track just with the force of gravity. Riders can control the direction and speed of the kart with the specially designed steering system and brakes. Minimum height to drive the luge is 110 cm (3’7″)Little children who reach 85 cm (2’8″) can ride with an adult.
The 1.4 km track with twists, turns and tunnels takes drivers an average of about 7 minutes to descend through the Laurentian Forest to the Mont Tremblant Resort. The views all around are breathtaking!
Going down once just gives you an appetite for more. Skyline Luge realizes this and sells tickets starting from 2 rides (or more.)
