Storyland:
New Orleans, LA

Although we were only adults visiting City Park, we were intrigued by Storyland. We had to stop by and check out the larger-than-life, storybook characters I remembered from my childhood.

Storyland is a play area with tremendous sculptures of more than 20 classic fairytale characters such as Pinocchio, Jack and the Beanstalk, Captain Hook’s Pirate ship, the 3 little pigs, Mother Goose, the Old Woman’s Shoe House, Puff the Magic Dragon and many more characters and fairytale book settings I do not remember off hand.

Storyland does not only have large sculptures, there is a slide coming out of the Magic Dragons mouth and a two story slide down Jack’s Beanstalk. There is a bridge over water surrounding the huge whale and many picnic tables all around (although no outside food is allowed in the park). The xylophone near the dragon has a book of notes showing how to play music and many of the structures can be entered to play pretend inside.

It was definitely fun taking a stroll down memory lane and seeing how many of the fairytales I still remember from my youth.
