The Basin:
Lincoln, NH

While biking in Franconia Notch State Park we paid a visit to the beautiful Basin. I was blown away by this 15-foot-deep and 30 feet in diameter pothole, which is located right at the bottom of a large waterfall in the Pemigewasset River. Unfortunately we were under pressure to return our bikes to the rental store before it closed, so we didn’t get to explore as much as we would have liked.  I was simply taken by the beauty of the waterfall, the surrounding streams and large rocks and I therefore decided to come back the next day.

There is a prominent sign “The Basin” on Route 93 leading to the exit for the parking lot. It is only a few minute’s walk from the parking lot to the Basin and up to see the waterfall.

There are picnic tables scattered about and trails through the woods. The Basin offers a natural and unique haven of serenity right there in the woods.
