The Flume Gorge:
Lincoln, NH

The first time I visited the White Mountain area, we visited The Flume Gorge. This time around, we visited other waterfalls in the area.

The Flume Gorge is a natural granite Gorge located in Franconia Notch State Park at the base of Mount Liberty.

The Flume Gorge is set up with boardwalks and stairs throughout the two-mile loop trail (it takes about 1.5 hours to complete). The boardwalks take visitors through the meandering streams, near the rushing waterfalls such as Avalanche Falls, through the granite walls which rise to the heights of 70 to 90 feet and beside Glacial Boulders.

Table Rock, a large and slippery rock is a point of interest. Wolf’s Den requires a tight squeeze through rocks. It may be necessary to get down on hands and knees to get through!

One of the oldest covered bridges in New Hampshire (built in 1886) can be found at the Flume Gorge.
