We were heading to the Lewes Canalfront Park when we spotted the magnificent pink cherry blossom trees in full bloom at the 1812 Memorial Park. We couldn’t help but stop to see the beautiful cherry blossoms and tulips in bloom.
The 1812 Memorial Park is not much of a park. It is a small area by the water which commemorates the defense of Lewes against a two-day bombardment by the British fleet in 1813. The site was a defense battery during the War of 1812 and features naval guns as a monument in memory of the war.
The path near the memorial, right by the parking lot was lined with some of the most magnificent spring blooms when we visited.
