Cheekwood is one of those places where children and adults can enjoy the same place but on different levels. More than 400,000 people visit Cheeckwood each year. The 55 acre Cheekwood Garden, located on the Cheeckwood Estate, has many beautiful formal gardens each one uniquely designed. We enjoyed strolling through the gardens and admiring the variety of flowers and plants. We especially enjoyed the Children’s Garden with the teahouse and the duck sprinkler. The mazes incorporated in the garden was lots of fun for the children.
The train garden, with the TRAINS! Exhibit ,is an unusual addition to the gardens. There are multiple train tracks and electric trains with adorable scenes running through the garden and even through and on trees. The Train Garden includes a walking bridge, children’s tunnel, Storybook Trail leading to the exhibit and a playhouse was inspired by The Little Engine That Could
The Mansion shows a lot about the Cheek Family’s life and also displays art collections throughout.
Gardens are often places where children are bored but Cheekwood was exciting and interactive. Cheeckwood was definitely a favorite with both the adults and children in our family.
