The zoo is magnificently designed with more than 3,000 animals originating from all over the world. There are many large animals at the zoo such as giraffes, tigers, bears, cougars, rhinoceros, zebras and more all set in beautiful scenes of nature.

There is a building at the zoo called the Unseen New World with a tremendous amount of fish, frogs and all types of reptiles displayed there.  We especially enjoyed watching the meerkats and the guinea pigs scurrying about in the play areas set for them. The farm area is an interactive gated in area with goats roaming around. The flamingos  attracted our attention  with their unique beauty.

Our family’s all time favorite was the kangaroo area, a closed in area where the kangaroos are. Visitors can walk on the path and can interact with the kangaroos. The kangaroos are trained that if they venture onto the paved path humans can touch them but if they are on the grass, people don’t bother them. We spent a lot of time watching the kangaroos. We got to pet one which came near us and watched a mother feed a baby. It was a fascinating experience!

We only got to the zoo in the afternoon due to rainy weather earlier. On our way out by closing time our children  were disappointed to see the enormous unique playground they missed out on. We even considered visiting again just to enjoy the playground but we didn’t have enough time during our stay.

The zoo also has additional attractions (not included in general admission) such as the Adventure 4D Theater, the Soaring Eagle Zipline, Wild Animal Carousel and the Wilderness Train.

The Nashville Zoo is not your average zoo. It’s so much more than that.
