The K-1 Gondola take visitors up the second tallest peak in Vermont. The ride up is a mile and a quarter and the views become more and more breathtaking as you get higher and higher. The Gondola goes up to the top of the 4,241 foot peak with the Peak Lodge at the top offering an excellent menu at the restaurant and bar. Bikers also use the Gondola to get up the mountain with their bikes. The bikes are hooked onto the outside of the Gondola and taken up the mountain like that.

Once we got off the Gondola near the Peak Lodge we continued up the steps on the right to the Catwalk trail. The path is short and rocky leading up to an open rocky area at the very top of the mountain with 360 degree views of magnificent views including views of the Adirondacks and White Mountains on a clear day. The views at the top were incredible! The K-1 Gondola ride is definitely worthwhile even if you are in the area just for a short time.

Tickets can be at the K-1 Base Area or in advance online Pre-purchased tickets must be purchased before midnight on the day of arrival. Online tickets purchased the night before receive a 25% discount. Children age 6 and under as well as adults 80+ ride the gondola free.
